Aphrodite (Icon IX-07)

‘Aphrodite’ is part of the art project ‘Mediterranean Icons’, where the structure of classic Byzantine icons is reinterpreted through contemporary expression. The theme of a central figure with its story recounted in surrounding frames is retained. However, instead of sacred images, the ‘Mediterranean Icons’ feature figures inspired by the artist’s imagination or, as in this case, by the influence of Greek/Roman mythological heritage.
