Description
Pompeana
Pompeana evokes the haunting presence of an ancient figure emerging from the shadows of time. At the centre stands a solitary, almost sculptural form draped in intense reds, its posture both dignified and fragile. The surrounding vertical panels, earthy, smoky, and textured, recall the walls of Pompeii, where traces of life endure in fading frescoes and fractured silhouettes. The figure’s head is crowned by an explosive, charcoal-like halo, suggesting memory, ash, or divine unrest. Through its striking palette and worn surfaces, the painting becomes an elegy to the bodies, myths, and human stories preserved beneath volcanic fire: a meditation on survival, transformation, and the resilience of form across centuries.
