The Assembly of Virgins II turns gathering into a kind of ritual. Across successive bands, figures stand close together yet remain curiously separate, their bodies reduced to luminous silhouettes, veils, and gestures suspended against fields of ochre and gold. The compartmental structure suggests a sequence without chronology, as though different moments of the same ceremony had been preserved side by side. Sacred associations linger, but the figures resist becoming saints or symbols of purity; they remain ambiguous, earthly presences caught between intimacy and distance. What emerges is less a narrative than a collective apparition, a chorus of feminine forms whose identities seem continually to shift between body, memory, and myth.
