Description
The Cumaean Sibyl II
Part of Mediterranean Icons, this work reinterprets the ancient figure of the Cumaean Sibyl through a contemporary expressionist vision. In the central panel, the elongated, draped form stands like an oracle suspended between shadow and illumination, its features fragmented yet resonant. Surrounding compartments hold shifting faces, spectral silhouettes, and traces of movement, echoing the Sibyl’s role as a conduit between worlds. At the base, a cluster of figures suggests a gathering of seekers or witnesses. These emerging movements evoke prophecy not as a fixed pronouncement, but as a fluid, elusive force; a revelation shaped by time, mystery, and the luminous depths of the human psyche.
